Can you change your delivery address on Amazon?

It depends on timing. If your order hasn't been dispatched yet, you can usually change the address. Once it's shipped, your options are much more limited.

Before dispatch - you can edit the delivery address in most cases
Digital items - no delivery address needed, so no issue
After dispatch - you generally cannot redirect the parcel through Amazon
Third-party sellers - address changes may not be possible once the order is confirmed

Quick answer

Yes, but only before the order is dispatched. Go to Your Orders, find the item, and look for "Change" next to the shipping address. If the order has already shipped, you'll need to contact the carrier directly or wait and arrange a return.

How to change the address before dispatch

If your order status still shows as "Not yet dispatched," follow these steps.

Step-by-step process 0 / 5 checked

Go to Your Orders on Amazon.co.uk
Find the order you need to change
Click "Order details" or "View order details"
Look for "Change" next to the shipping address
Enter the new address and confirm the change

If you don't see a "Change" option, the order may already be in preparation for dispatch and can no longer be edited.

What to do after your order has shipped

Once Amazon shows "Dispatched," the address change window has closed. But you still have options.

Contact the carrier - Royal Mail, DPD, and Amazon Logistics sometimes allow redirect requests
Wait for delivery attempt - if nobody is home, the parcel will go to a collection point or neighbour
Request a return - once delivered to the wrong address, arrange a return and reorder to the correct one

Updating your default delivery address

To avoid this problem in future, make sure your default address is correct.

Go to Account > Addresses to add, edit, or remove saved delivery addresses. Set your most-used address as the default to avoid errors at checkout.

Expecting a delivery? You might want to know what "out for delivery" means or find out what "in transit" means for your parcel.

Common problems and fixes

This means the order is already being prepared or has shipped. Try contacting Amazon customer service through the Help section - they may be able to intervene before it leaves the warehouse.

Sellers who fulfil their own orders may not be able to change addresses once confirmed. Message the seller directly through Your Orders - they might cancel and relist for you.

If you're not sure you'll be at the delivery address, choose an Amazon Locker at checkout. You can collect at your convenience within 3 days.
