Testing Book Wraps for Drop, Bend, and Crush Resistance
Test your book wraps before bulk ordering with these practical strength checks.
Drop testing
Quick answer
Drop-test packed wraps from 60cm onto all faces, edges, and corners. Bend-test by flexing gently in the middle. Crush-test by stacking 5kg of weight on top for 24 hours. After each test, unwrap and inspect the book for damage. A quality book wrap should pass all three tests with zero visible book damage. If any test fails, the wrap or board grade is insufficient.
Bend testing
It should not sag or bend significantly.
The wrap should resist and spring back without permanent deformation.
No creasing, bending, or spine damage should be visible.
Board selection: GSM guide or impact science.
Crush testing
Place the packed wrap flat and stack 5kg of even weight on top (a few heavy books work well). Leave for 24 hours. Remove and check for compression damage to the book inside. The wrap should show minimal deformation and the book should be undamaged.
