Standard airmail (China Post, Yanwen): 15-30 business days
Economy / ePacket: 20-40 business days, cheapest option with basic tracking
Surface mail / sea freight: 60-90 days, cheapest but extremely slow

Common Chinese retailer delivery times

AliExpress Standard Shipping typically takes 15-25 days. Some sellers offer faster "AliExpress Shipping" (10-20 days) or express options. Free shipping is usually the slowest.

Shein has improved its delivery times significantly. Standard shipping is typically 7-12 days. Express (3-7 days) is available for an extra fee.

Temu offers competitive shipping times of 7-15 days for standard delivery. They increasingly use UK-based warehouses which speeds things up.

Taobao doesn't ship directly. Using a shopping agent adds processing time. Total: 10-30 days depending on the agent's shipping method.

Customs processing and charges

UK customs adds 1-5 days. Orders over £135 attract 20% import VAT. Many Chinese retailers (Shein, Temu, AliExpress) now pre-collect VAT at checkout so customs clearance is faster. If VAT wasn't pre-paid, the carrier collects it on delivery plus a handling fee (£8-12).

Tracking your parcel from China

17track.net is the best universal tracker for Chinese parcels. It checks multiple carrier databases including China Post, Yanwen, Cainiao, and all express carriers.
Tracking gaps are normal. Standard Chinese shipping often shows no updates for 7-14 days while the parcel is in transit or waiting for a flight. This doesn't mean it's lost.
